1. a member of a Germanic tribe which in A.D. 568 invaded Italy. The Lombards settled in the part of northern Italy since known as Lombardy.
2. a native or inhabitant of Lombardy.
3. Obsolete. a) a native of Lombardy engaged as a banker, moneychanger, or pawnbroker. b) any person carrying on any of these businesses.
